How to Wear Espadrilles this Autumn 2026 and Beyond!
I am here to tell you to break the rules!
If you know me you know l am not a rule breaker but when it comes to fashion, l definitely throw the rule book out the window. I like to wear what I want, not following trends. I like to make pieces in my wardobe work for me which means they are often worn across seasons. Layering pretty summer tops under cashmere jumpers and summer dresses with chunky knits in the autumn and spring.
So, my espadrilles have to do the same, no relegating them to the wardobe as soon as the shops fill with autumnal browns and aubergines. I have worn these, famously known as, 'summer shoes' across ALL the seasons.
Do you wear your espadrilles all year?
END OF SUMMER/AUTUMNAL TRANSITION
White jeans and espadrilles two timeless classics that always look good together, especially at this time of year.
AUTUMN
Scarves and jeans, warm layers and on those crisp sunny dry days a pair of black espadrille wedges. Swapping high heels for wedges for a special occasion or popping out for a meal with friends, for evening and day events when you need shoes that are dressy but comfortable, a change from boots and trainers.
WINTER
I do draw the line at wearing espadrilles on a winters day, I am firmly into boots by then BUT when it comes to the Christamas party season dressing and the black tie event outfits instead of wearing high heels l opt for gold wedges. The perfect blend of festive sparkle and comfort! I'm a lover of high heels but these days they no longer feel comfortable and so instead a wedge heel gives me the GLAM and DRESSY look l need, especially with the tassels, with a comfortable insole and wedge heel.
SPRING
Jeans and layers with blue wedge espadrilles. The inky blue wedge heel shoes work perfectly with denim and move seamlessly into being worn with summer dresses. As the weather warms up, it's socks off and wedge shoes on!
