Love, Gifting & Thoughtful Choices

Hello!

We've made it through January!

Thankfully February is a short month because I am so excited for March. A month when we see the small shoots of fresh new greenery and the spring flowers bloom - my favourite! The beginnings of a fresh season lie ahead, one filled, l hope, with sunnier days!

I love the feelings of spring and the changing of the season, it speaks my 'love language' - sunshine and colour, sure to put a spring in my step. Combined with the feeling that at last (hopefully!) we can slowly put the heavy winter clothes and shoes away for another year.

February at least has Valentines Day, providing some colourful cheeriness in the form of pretty cards and all things pink and red! Little pops of colour in between the gloomy grey days so often offered up in this short month.

Whilst my shoes and wardrobe are currently still very much a sea of dark colours I am taking the opportunity to fill vases with colourful spring flowers. I might not be able to wear the colourful shoes just yet but l am going to make sure the house is full of cheerfulness.

At Christmas my mother in law arrived with an enormous bowl of hyacinth bulbs as a thank you for hosting. Back then it seemed far too early to be considering spring flowers when the house was full of Christmas decorations. She said "these are for after Christmas, after the decorations are down and the house feels bare". At the time it was hard to imagine a bare house but the time comes, the tree goes away and my goodness did l appreciate those neon pink flowers at the end of January. They perfectly timed flowering with the weather turning so gloomy and the festive cheer long behind us. Such a thoughtful gift as not only did they fill my kitchen with colour this spring but I shall plant them in the garden so that next year the bulbs will bring their colourfulness outside once again, the gift that keeps on giving,

Such thoughtful choices, a thank you gift in December that I will remember when l see the flowers bloom again next year. Bringing back happy memories. I feel the same way when l reach for my spring shoes and clothes. Packed away last autumn, full of memories from last spring/summer. Ready to create new memories this year. Purchases that I knew would last beyond a fashion trend. Shoes and clothes that are timeless and classic, that l can wear year after year. Colourful clothes and shoes to add pops of colour to my wardrobe as we transition out of the winter style. Lets hope we are reaching for the colourful espadrilles very very soon and we have a mild spring. Until then, lets fill our houses with colourful spring bulbs that will give us joy again next spring!
