Our Story

designed in norfolk, skillfully made in Spain

Playful and energised, joyful and 'solar charged'.

From rainbow painted beach huts in British seaside towns to the vibrant hues of Mediterranean villages our footwear is crafted with unique colours and patterns reminiscent of those joyful, sun filled days.

At Sole of Summer, we believe great shoes start with exceptional craftsmanship and should have a story to tell.

Sole of Summer works with expert espadrille manufactures in the Murcia region of Spain to showcase the skill of making these traditional shoes. Preserving the heritage of European shoemaking through skilled craftsmanship. Made by masters of their craft (so talented they even create espadrilles worn by European royalty).

Every pair is skilfully crafted with care. Using traditional techniques passed down through generations along with our commitment to sourcing, where possible, natural and sustainable materials, better for your feet and better for the planet. We are not fast fashion, we are considered fashion. These are the stories we want to tell through our vibrant footwear.

Our footwear is designed to be as joyful and vibrant as the sun-drenched destinations that inspire our designs. Ensuring each design reflects our dedication to quality, style, and conscious craftsmanship and of course comfort. All our shoes are a celebration of heritage, individuality, and effortless summer style.

about sarah

Shoes for me are at the heart of every outfit, whether it be practical wellies for dog walking or sparkling Christmas party shoes, they complete an outfit; they reflect the spirit of the person wearing them.

After leaving a career behind in corporate events in London and having my son l become a self taught milliner. I loved how an accessory could reflect the wearer's personality.

A move overseas to the USA put the millinery on hold and upon returning to the UK it seemed the right time to start a new adventure. With a family connection to Spain l found myself exploring the art of traditional espadrille making.

Moving away from the samey world of beige and fast fashion the authentic Spanish espadrille and ribbon makers have worked with me to create a considered collection of small batches of fun eye-catching summer footwear inspired by summer memories and sunny travel destinations.

I have always been a believer that a good shoe goes a long way to creating a polished look. Sole of Summer footwear allows you to step up, dress up and change it up when the sunshines.

Staying true to traditional espadrille making but with a kick of the unexpected!
